Joseph F. Morey, Jr. - Photography

Artist's Statement

I started doing photography in Architecture School, so I retain an interest in buildings and cityscapes. However this was also the time of Vietnam War protests and many other events that I think of as my photographic Journal, rather than photojournalism.

My other interests include fine art drawing, which meant spending a lot of classes that included figure drawing. I use photography to gather references for drawings and paintings, but also as an end in themselves.

Whatever medium I use, art is about composition and visual impact. Occasionally the subject matter is not important, the image becomes a pure abstraction.
